The tour guide at Tuckaleechee Caverns told us that two local boys discovered the caverns around fifty years ago, and used to go down there to play and explore when they were only about six years old. The son of one of those boys is currently running the operation. The tour took about an hour and we went nearly 500 feet underground. There were beautiful formations down there and a waterfall that spanned about 300 feet. It was almost impossible to get a good photo because there was so little light.
